Israel : Ports Strike Resolved with 6% Wage Increase

Diamond News, January 6, 2011 :

The three-day general strike in Israel’s seaports has been resolved with a 6% wage increase, Bloomberg reports. Histadrut Labor Federation negotiator Avi Nissenkoren sent out a statement by e-mail in which he called the deal a “fair agreement for both sides.” According to Bloomberg, the raise will be paid out in two three-percent increments in the two years of the new contract, and the junior workers hired as recently as 2005 will receive an extra 5% raise – bringing their total salary increase to 11%.
